Change can be scary! Yet, life is continual change. Often, even if we feel we need changes in our lives, we hold on fiercely to the comfort of the way life has always been. We know that healthy relationships make for healthy lives. And often we work on our relationships with others and forget the most important relationship is with self. And that can be a complicated relationship. In order to live authentic lives, we need to know our authentic self and the many roles within that self such as parent, child, worker, caregiver, spouse and friend. Often when one role dominates, often through stress or trauma, life can feel out of control, anxious, depressed, hopeless, and even numb. Through integrating the many roles, we can gain new perceptions, strengthen coping skills, and improve self-care. Through a collaborative, eclectic approach to therapy, clients can gain self-knowledge and access their own personal wisdom.
